Neighbourhood battery training moves online

We are excited to announce that our one-day Neighbourhood Battery training course has moved online!

This new format makes it accessible to anyone, anywhere, and allows you to move through the sessions at your own pace.

The Victorian Government’s Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) engaged the Yarra Energy Foundation (YEF) to develop and deliver this training.

The training is free and can be accessed by anyone with an interest in neighbourhood batteries and how the role they play in the renewable energy transition.

A presenter stands in front of a camera and professional lighting setup during a video shoot. The presenter, wearing glasses, a maroon turtleneck, and a grey cardigan, speaks in front of a white backdrop with a projected geometric pattern. Microphones are suspended above the presenter, and a person monitors the scene behind a camera rig equipped with a monitor displaying the presenter.

Delivered over four videos, the online course covers:

  • Problem context and key concepts
  • Operating a BESS
  • Project implementation
  • Project development

There are also pre-training materials, with an overview of foundational concepts. You can read them here.

If you are already confident with the basics, click the link below to get started!

To support the online training, YEF will also be hosting three online Q&A sessions, to provide you with a chance to ask questions and discuss concepts covered in the training videos.

YEF staff will be available during the hour, and all are welcome to drop-in at any point for an informal chat. The focus of the session will be on the learning materials and information in the online training videos, so make sure to check them out before attending!

The sessions are free to attend, see the below links to register:

Two men are seated in armchairs facing each other in a minimalist setting. They are engaged in a conversation, with a round white table between them holding two glasses of water. The man on the left is wearing a light gray sweater and jeans, while the man on the right is wearing a maroon turtleneck, a dark gray cardigan, and black pants. Behind them, potted plants are placed against a white brick wall, adding greenery to the scene. The video player interface is visible at the bottom of the screen.
